ETUC urges immediate release of Turkish trade unionist Meryem Özsögüt
Today, the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) and the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) have written a joint letter to European Commissioners to express their deep concern about the continued detention of Ms Meryem Özsögüt, member of the Executive Board of the Turkish Union of Public Employees in Health and Social Services, affiliated to the ETUC member organization KESK.

Reducing the pay gap: ETUC demands more concrete and targeted actions
The gender pay gap in Europe is still 15 % on average, but more than 20 % in several countries. In its Executive Committee of 25 June, the ETUC called on the European Commission, Member States and employers’ organisations to take more concrete and targeted actions to reduce the gender pay gap. It also called on its members to step up their actions and activities in this regard, notably by using the collective bargaining instrument.

Informal social ministers meeting: EU must not betray its social objective
The European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) take part in the informal meeting of labour and social policy ministers hosted by the French Presidency this 10-12 July in Chantilly. The European unions will impress on the French Presidency the urgent need to put the social dimension back as a key priority. The European Union (EU) must not betray its social objective.
